Ryan Farley is pleased to present Afterthoughts, an exhibition of prints. The exhibit, organized by Lynn Curtis of the Farmer Gallery, will be open to the public on January 15 and continue through March 29, 2019.

Guided by his experiences and a multifaceted study of human connection, his artworks bring awareness to and explore manifestations of interpersonal connectivity and their implications in the greater human experience.

He states, “Afterthoughts is inspired by moments of locking eyes with others in passing, and the afterthoughts that follow. When I encounter these moments I briefly wonder about the other; what is their life like? Would we get along? Are they having the same interactional experience? Though it may come across as awkward, it’s an essential trait that has roots in many social species.

The prints in this suite give form to that invisible experience of thought and recollection, and convey the beauty of the imprint that the other can make on our minds. The surrounding cryptic script is the language of a conscious person. It serves as a visual for something internal that we don’t see and can’t always understand, but want to understand. Meaning sometimes feels just on the horizon, familiar even, but it's not always accessible. Similarly is our relation with other individuals. That act of wondering will always be present, and perhaps breaking through the barrier of thought can reveal something essential and liberating.”
